Ramachandran Nair
P.N.R. Nair BVSc, DVM, Dr.Odont.h.c. (PhD Hon)

Dr Ramachandran Nair graduated from the University of Kerala, India, and received his doctorate from the University of Zurich, Switzerland in 1973. In 1978 he joined the Institute of Oral Biology, Dental School, University of Zurich, Switzerland where he has been a full-time Senior Scientist.

 

Also, he has been a regularly contributing Adjunct Professor (1997 onwards) at the University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington, USA; and a Visiting Professor at the Eastman Dental Institute, University College of London, UK (2004 onwards). Moreover, he is an Honorary Professor at Dental Schools in Dharwad (1990 onwards) & Madras (2002 onwards), India.
In addition, Dr, Nair authored over 100 original publications, some of which are considered classics in endodontic literature. His electron microscopic description of the endodontic microbial flora (1987) is widely held to be the first record of endodontic biofilms.

Dr. Nair is also a founding member of the Swiss Society for Endodontology and the past Chairman of its Research Committee. He received several international awards that include an honorary Ph.D. from the University of Umeå, Sweden (1998).
