About Us

The DQAU is the “executive arm” of the QAAA committee. The main strategy of work of DQA unit at COD is to build a system of responsibility, self-reporting, KPI data collection, action plan and follow up from the base up. The data regarding course portfolios, course surveys, course reports, department and program reports and KPIS are archived in central database (shared folder). Action plans are approved and their implementation is followed and reported in regular reports.

The unit is chaired by experience faculty in the domain of quality and meets on a monthly basis unless otherwise called by the Chairperson. The committee needs a fifty percent quorum and resolutions are reached by the simple majority vote. The charges of the committee include but not limited to the following:…

  1. Support college development and quality assurance.
  2. Spread and sustain quality culture at college’s level.
  3. Periodically review and update college/programs Strategic Plan and operational plan.
  4. Propose initiatives to ensure that the strategic goals and objectives of the College are being met on a timely manner.
  5. Ensure the availability of updated Administrative Policies and Procedures.
  6. Submit regular reports to the appropriate bodies upon their request.
  7. Review research strategy with the research unit and ensure its alignment with the university mission.
  8. Review committee formation orders within the college to prevent redundancy of charges.
  9. Review resolutions of respective college committee meeting minutes/reports pertaining to quality and academic accreditation and ensure the implementation of any approved recommendations and measure effectiveness.
  10. Apply the principles of quality assurance based on the appropriate national accreditation bodies’ standards (e.g. ECC-NCAAA, SCHS and international) in different academic and non-academic units.
  11. Lead the process of programs applications for national and international accreditation as applicable.
  12. Ensure that the requirements for program’s accreditation are met in a timely manner.
  13. Ensure archiving of programs accreditation documents for future enhancement.
  14. Provide support for institutional accreditation/re-accreditation.
  15. Collect, analyze and review reports, surveys, KPIs and benchmarks submitted by different Units.
  16. Provide needed support to faculty, staff and students in areas related to quality and development.
  17. Ensure a systematic implementation of the curriculum, best utilization of learning resources, optimal educational management, and monitor the outcomes of the academic programs.
  18. Identify deficiencies in the academic program, curriculum, assessment and evaluation to suggest the necessary improvement plans to QAAA Committee.
  19. Oversee the progress of sections reporting to the unit.
  20. Perform any other duties related to college development, quality assurance and academic accreditation.
The Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation Committee (QAAA)

The committee is chaired by the Dean and meets on a monthly basis unless otherwise called by the Chairperson. The committee needs a sixty six percent quorum and resolutions are reached by the simple majority vote. The charges of the committee include but not limited to the following:

  1. Monitor and enforce ETEC-NCAAA standards to enhance the quality of practices and reduce incompetence.
  2. Oversee the preparation of the programs’ applications for national and international accreditation processes.
  3. Lead the process of accreditation at the colleges or deanships levels.
  4. Review and oversee the processes and functions of the Development and Quality Unit, including but not limited to preparation of reports, data collection, KPIs, benchmarking and suggested action plans for improvement.
  5. Develop interactive constructive rapport with different offices and committees particularly those related to the academic curricula or training programs.
  6. Oversee the submission of regular reports to the QAAA Steering Committee by the Development and Quality Unit.
  7. Identify areas that need improvement and propose the appropriate solutions.
  8. Identify the needs for faculty enhancement activities at the college and deanship level.
About Library

The College of Dentistry Library supports various educational, research and clinical activities and programs. It has excellent collection of dental resources available for reading and reference purpose in print and digital format. Our library has a massive collection of dental e-resources from different databases composed in one digital library named Ac-Knowledge database (http://www.ac-knowledge.net/ngha/). The primary objective of the collection is to provide current and up-to-date scholarly and scientific literature to fulfill the academic and research requirement of our students, faculty and staff. Each year, new books are added to the collection. The digital library provides online access to 5900+ eBooks, 6400+ scientific journals and other scholarly material available from 37 different online databases. ​Some of the most popular databases are Accessmedicine, BMJ Journals; CINAHL Complete, Clinical Key; Dentistry and Oral Sciences Sources, Medline; Ovid; Oxford Journals; Sage Journals; ScienceDirect, Springerlink, VisualDx, and Wiley Blackwell.
