MEET AND GREET
Meet and Greet Event. The Dental Research Club hosted a meet and greet event on May 24, 2023, in the College of Dentistry lobby. The goal of the event was to launch the Dental Research Club and to introduce the club to faculty, students, and staff. The event was well-attended by over 150 students faculty and staff, and it was a great success. The event o featured presentations by current DRC members, who talked about their research interests and their experiences with the club. The event also included a networking session, where students had the opportunity to talk to DRC members and learn more about the club’s activities. The meet-and-greet event was a great way to introduce the Dental Research Club to new students. The event also helped to build excitement for the club’s upcoming activities, such as the research lectures and the research project groups. The event was free to attend and there was food and drinks served. Also, there was a coffee station with a special offer for the event attendees.
RESEARCH 101 LECTURES
The Dental Research Club hosted a lecture titled “Research 101” by Professor Ahmed Jamleh on May 25, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in the Large Auditorium GF, COD. The lecture was supervised by the research unit department. There was a question-and-answer session following the lecture, and attendees were also treated to free coffee from “SOME” coffee shop. The lecture was well-attended by over 115 dental students, faculty, and staff and it was a great opportunity for students to learn about the basics of research. Professor Jamleh began the lecture by defining research and discussing its importance. He then went on to discuss the different types of research, the research process, and his own experience in conducting research.
THE DIFFERENT STUDY PARADIGMS
The Dental Research Club hosted a lecture titled ” The different study paradigms” by Dr. Tala Alshihayb on June 1, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in the Large Auditorium GF, COD. The lecture was supervised by the research unit department. Attendees were also treated to free coffee from “SOME” coffee shop. Dr. Alshihayb began the lecture by defining study paradigms and explaining why it is important to know what you are looking for before you design your study. He then went on to discuss the different types of study paradigms, including descriptive, predictive, and causal. The lecture was well-attended by about 100 dental students, faculty, and staff and it was an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the different study paradigms and how to develop research questions.
