RESTORATIVE & PROSTHETIC DENTAL SCIENCES
The Department of Restorative and Prosthetic Dental Sciences works to advance the School of Dentistry vision, leading health and oral healthcare through its programs in Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Operative Dentistry, Cariology and Dental Biomaterials. Through teaching, research, and scholarly activity, students in the D.M.D. program can obtain knowledge, skills, and problem-solving capabilities to affect the oral health of the population at large. Graduates joining the dental profession provide diagnostic, preventive, and restorative services to patients as well as contribute to the profession of dentistry as a whole. This is accomplished through the academic programs administered within this department providing didactic instruction, pre-clinical and clinical services, and research opportunities with the intent to improve oral health.
ENDODONTICS
Endodontics focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases of the dental pulp and periapical tissues. Our goal is aimed at saving and preserving one of our patient’s most prized assets – the natural teeth. This goal is accomplished through the dedicated pre-doctoral training of our dental students and the advanced postgraduate education of our residents.
OPERATIVE DENTISTRY
The division deals with teaching the knowledge and skills related to Operative Dentistry, Cariology and Dental Biomaterials Sciences. We provide an important role in the college of dentistry, establishing the foundational concepts of dentistry to the pre-doctoral dental students in caries diagnosis, prevention, repair, and restorative techniques.
